Britain has enormous potential but isn’t realising it
As I was writing this book, I came across what felt like countless people, in all walks of life, asking me what the book was about. When I said that I thought Britain had the most enormous potential, but that it wasn’t being fully realised by a long way, everyone agreed. It was as if I had put into words something they had been feeling but had never expressed clearly to themselves.
Humanity is developing a more advanced consciousness, and the evidence for this is right under our noses in the form of continually growing numbers of initiatives, projects, developments that are coming from this next consciousness, at grass roots across the whole of Britain.
WHAT IS THE QUESTION THE BOOK IS ASKING?
Each time humanity has developed a more advanced consciousness we have changed how we do things, the kinds of organisations we have, and how government operates. That shift of consciousness has entered Peoples’ lives changing how much potential has been realised. Compare the stifling of potential in the middle ages with the potential realised in the age of reason.
Frederic Laloux has applied this to organisations today. He has found a number of next generation organisations and unpacked the kind of consciousness their leaders have. Their consciousness has moved on compared with, for example that of the CEOs of corporates. The organisations which have resulted are a huge improvement. They are light years ahead.
I`m using this approach with Britain itself. When we look back over our more recent history, the consciousness powering the industrial revolution shifted after the second world war, giving birth to welfare state Britain. In 1989 it shifted again giving rise to Britain today, based on markets and money.
So is there a next generation Britain? Is a shift of consciousness occurring which will enable the country to move on from where it is today and for far more potential to be realised? By the time you finish this book, I think you will say yes there is.
